Okra Pickles

This is an advertisement that 'borrowed' and made new with Brittney one night while we were playing around on photoshop at out houses one night. I used a series of copy and pasting, blurring, sharpening, erasing, and patch working techniques. I thought this was kind of funny and would get a few laughs. But like always, we're always the only ones laughing.

"Listen Closely", Digital image series

These five photos are images of a serious I made called "Listen Closely". With these Images together I compiled a group to come out and give the expression of paying close attention to life, and your surroundings. Pay close attention to the mystery of the world, and the beauty and delicacy of nature. The color and saturation of the image is not natural. I worked with them i photoshop to edit the images levels, and color deposit by adding a rose color. I'm really happy with how these photos came out.

Summer

This is my eighth piece this semester, I believe. For the most part I used acrylic for the color in the design and black prisma colored markers for the black flower. My main medium for the piece is paraffin encaustic wax, which gives each slide an antique look. If I could do something different, I would change up the colors and add some found objects or papers. Overall I like this piece a lot and I think I’m going to re-matt this on black.

This is my synthetic piece that i did for this project. I used found papers to support the color of the still life images and then outlined some of the objects in charcoal so they were more noticeable. My favorite part about this peice was the colors i used in the outlining details. The orange and the baby blue really put the peice together.

Encaustic Piece

This is my finished encaustic piece. The found papers are hidden beneath the wax to show texture. I outlined some of the wax with black to give the dripping more of a pop. I like my color scheme a lot. Melting and smearing waxes over and over, started to get messy but carefully came out looking really nice.

This is my take on the chinese paper cut assignment. The portrait is of brittney; a straight on photo. I never added color because i thought my finished product was able to handle black and white because of the strong edges.

Noodles

The prompt for this piece is table after dinner. I used prisma color pencils to draw the fork and noodles.

Inside of my closet

This drawing is 11X15. All shading and lines were done using 13 different pencils. I was going to be funny and draw a snake coming out of the boot, But i don't have snakes inside of my closet. Just shoes and clothes! This piece is WAY better than my last one.

This is my Triptych for the ~seventh~ art project I believe. The layout, I know is very strong. With all the colors and the movement, it definitely makes you dizzy. My favorite part about this piece is that it mixes realism with surrealism. My main focus at first was to add a lot of details to the facial features and then focus on an even color layout for the background.

This is the final layout of my CD cover. The band name is The Lengths. Over all i love the way this turned out. I think the look is very professional.

Optimistic

This piece was done in sign language. The word the hands spell out is optimistic. The color scheme i picked is very earthy. The whole painting was done with acrylic and the black outline was carefully done in tempera.

Reckoner

This piece was inspired by the band Radiohead. The song Reckoner and the mood the song brings inspired the color scheme and the movement of the water colors. I used a simple technique using rubber cement and a process of rubbing the rubber off and re-painting over it it.

This is the first page of my altered book. I used a series of photos and cut outs of sentences for the background. I used watercolors to add the blue and pink shades.
